FinCrime AML/CTF Manager

About the role

As our FinCrime AML/CTF Manager, you’ll lead, grow, and manage the first‑line AML/CTF operations team, turning compliance policies into smooth, actionable risk‑management processes across the entire customer lifecycle. You will oversee customer risk assessment, due‑diligence, transaction monitoring and regulatory reporting to protect the ecosystem against financial crime.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Customer Risk Assessment Framework, ensuring accurate risk scoring and categorisation.
• Lead periodic and event‑driven reviews of the customer portfolio to dynamically reassess risk classifications.
• Oversee onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities performed by KYC/KYB teams, aligning controls with regulatory expectations.
• Partner with Product teams to define onboarding requirements that balance compliance with a friction‑less user experience.
• Manage end‑to‑end transaction monitoring for all AML/CTF typologies, including assessments, escalations and scenario calibrations.
• Mentor and scale a team of AML/CTF analysts, drive operational excellence and report risk metrics to senior management.
• Act as primary liaison to the 2nd‑line Compliance team, translating regulatory updates into scalable workflows.
• Serve as the final 1st‑line approver for Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the FIU.
• Prepare operational documentation and data for internal audits, external regulatory reviews and competent‑authority inquiries.

Required profile

• 6+ years in AML/CTF operations within fintech, digital banking or payment processing, with at least 2 years leading dedicated teams.
• Deep knowledge of EU AML Directives, FATF recommendations and Luxembourg regulatory requirements (Italian knowledge a plus).
• Professional certification such as CAMS, ICA or equivalent.
• Proven experience managing transaction‑monitoring systems, reviewing/approving SARs/STRs and designing customer risk‑rating frameworks.
• Exceptional stakeholder and communication skills, able to negotiate and collaborate across functions.
• Data‑driven mindset with ability to leverage KPIs and tools such as HEX, SQL or Splunk to optimise queues and resources.
• Agile change‑management capability to guide teams through hyper‑growth, regulatory shifts and tech upgrades.
