Electronics Engineer – Lunar Rover Hardware

About the role
Join ispace EU in Luxembourg as an Electronics Engineer responsible for the design, development and validation of electronic hardware for next‑generation lunar rovers. You will work across the full electronics development lifecycle, from architecture definition to hardware bring‑up, testing and qualification.
Key responsibilities
- Take end‑to‑end ownership of electronic hardware development for lunar rover systems, from requirements through design, manufacturing, verification and qualification.
- Lead architecture trade‑offs, perform simulations, and document design decisions balancing performance, reliability, cost, schedule and space‑environment constraints.
- Own schematic capture and multi‑layer PCB development, including component selection, stack‑up definition, impedance control, EMC/EMI considerations and design‑for‑manufacturing.
- Oversee PCB fabrication, assembly and hardware bring‑up, conduct board‑level debugging, rework and functional verification using laboratory instrumentation.
- Define verification approaches, develop test procedures, support environmental test campaigns and document results for traceability.
Required profile
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
- At least 7 years of professional experience in electronic hardware design with full lifecycle ownership.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical work, assess risks and mentor junior engineers.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across systems, mechanical, thermal and software teams.
Required skills
- Digital, mixed‑signal and power electronics design, schematic capture and circuit simulation.
- Multi‑layer PCB design, high‑speed routing, controlled impedance, grounding, stack‑up and EMC/EMI design.
- Signal integrity and power integrity analysis.
- EEE component selection, derating, reliability and obsolescence management.
- Hardware bring‑up, board‑level debugging, rework and functional testing with standard lab equipment.
- Test procedure development, requirements traceability and documentation.
- Scripting/automation in Python and C/C++.
- Experience with OrCAD (or equivalent) and FPGA/Xilinx hardware.
