Cytogeneticist – Full‑time Permanent Position

About the role

The Laboratoire national de santé is seeking a highly skilled Cytogeneticist to join the Hemato‑Oncogenetics‑Cytogenetics Service at the National Center of Genetics. This full‑time permanent position involves leading a laboratory team, overseeing daily operations, and contributing to both diagnostic and translational research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage laboratory technicians and scientists in cytogenetics.
• Direct daily operations of the cytogenetic laboratory, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Develop, validate, and implement new cytogenetic procedures and techniques.
• Interpret and communicate genetic results to physicians and health professionals.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of advances in cytogenetics and related regulations.
• Participate in training of medical students, residents, and colleagues.
• Collaborate with clinical genetics, molecular genetics, and external partners for comprehensive patient care.
• Represent the Center at meetings, conferences, and national health programs.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor certified in medical genetics or cytogenetics, or equivalent qualification.
• Eligibility to obtain a medical practice authorization in Luxembourg.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a cytogenetics laboratory (prenatal and postnatal).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Advanced English proficiency; German or French knowledge is a plus.
