Cytogeneticist – Full‑time Permanent Position

About the role

The Laboratoire national de santé is looking for a qualified Cytogeneticist to join its Hemato‑Oncogenetics‑Cytogenetics service on a full‑time, permanent basis. The position is based in Luxembourg and involves leading laboratory activities that support prenatal, constitutional and acquired chromosomal diagnostics.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of laboratory technicians and scientists in the cytogenetics unit.
• Oversee daily operations of the cytogenetic laboratory, ensuring high‑quality results.
• Develop, validate and implement new cytogenetic procedures and techniques.
• Interpret and communicate genetic findings to physicians and other health professionals.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines and quality standards.
• Participate in training of medical students, residents and colleagues.
• Contribute to translational research projects and collaborate with clinical genetics, molecular genetics and external partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in genetics, molecular biology or a related field.
• Significant experience in cytogenetic laboratory work, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of constitutional and acquired chromosomal abnormalities.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting results to clinical teams.
