Cytogeneticist – Full‑time Permanent Position

About the role

The Laboratoire national de santé is seeking a qualified Cytogeneticist to join its Hemato‑Oncogenetics‑Cytogenetics service on a full‑time, permanent basis. The position involves leading a laboratory dedicated to constitutional and acquired chromosomal analyses for prenatal and hematological patients.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of laboratory technicians and scientists in the cytogenetics unit.
• Oversee daily operations of the cytogenetic laboratory, ensuring high‑quality workflow.
• Develop, validate and implement new cytogenetic procedures and techniques.
• Interpret and communicate genetic results to physicians and other health professionals.
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Participate in training of medical students, residents and colleagues.
• Contribute to translational research projects within the Center.
• Collaborate with clinical genetics, molecular genetics and external healthcare partners to provide comprehensive diagnostics.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent) in Cytogenetics, Human Genetics or a related biomedical field.
• Significant experience in a clinical cytogenetics laboratory, preferably with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of constitutional and acquired chromosomal abnormalities.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting results to clinicians.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and support research activities.

Required skills

• Cytogenetic analysis (karyotyping, FISH, array‑CGH, etc.).
• Interpretation of genetic test results.
