Chief Risk Officer

About the role

RiverBank, a fast‑growing Luxembourg financial services firm, is seeking a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead its risk management function. The CRO will safeguard the bank’s stability by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across all business lines while ensuring compliance with Luxembourg’s regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the CSSF‑registered CRO, maintaining full compliance with Luxembourg regulations and liaising with supervisory authorities.
• Define and execute the strategic direction for risk management across credit, liquidity, operational, legal, and reputational risk domains.
• Oversee the identification, monitoring, measurement, and mitigation of risks throughout the bank’s lifecycle.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing risk team, promoting a culture of risk awareness.
• Integrate technology and innovation to enhance risk reporting, transparency, and execution efficiency.
• Collaborate with business lines to understand operational needs, anticipate risks, and design tailored risk solutions.
• Supervise the Information Security Officer to ensure robust cybersecurity and data protection compliance.
• Maintain clear communication with the Board, Executive Committee, and key stakeholders to align risk strategies with business objectives.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and the bank’s Head Office to ensure alignment with group policies.

Required profile

• Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance or a related discipline; professional certifications such as FRM or CFA are highly desirable.
• Minimum 10 years of senior risk management experience, preferably within banking or a comparable regulated financial institution.
• Deep expertise in credit, liquidity and operational risk, with a strong background in credit risk management.
• Comprehensive understanding of Luxembourg’s regulatory environment.
