Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Deputy Director

About the role

The Laboratoire National de Santé (LNS) seeks an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will also serve as Deputy Director. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will act as the operational backbone of the institution, translating strategic goals into concrete actions across six medical and scientific departments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operational functions of the laboratory, ensuring smooth and sustainable progress.
• Support production and service activities, monitor business performance, and manage budgets.
• Directly supervise the six medical/scientific departments and coordinate cross‑departmental collaboration.
• Implement and monitor quality, scientific, financial and public‑service obligations.
• Participate in the management committee and act as a strategic partner to the CEO, Board and other senior leaders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a complex, accredited, multidisciplinary institution.
• Strong scientific background, preferably in laboratory medicine or related health‑care fields.
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into operational plans.
• Experience working with public‑sector health organisations or national reference laboratories.
