Business Analyst Trainee (5-month program)

About the role

The European Investment Fund is looking for a motivated Business Analyst Trainee to join its Analytical Centre of Expertise (ACE) within the Strategy Office. Over a five‑month period, you will support analytical and data‑driven projects that help standardise EIF mandates and develop a decision‑engine prototype.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and review internal documentation on selected EIF mandates, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and document findings.
• Explore open‑source tools and graphical interfaces for creating, visualising and maintaining the feature model and decision‑engine.
• Prepare clear documentation of assumptions, modelling choices, limitations and next steps for prototype expansion.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum Bachelor) in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Public Policy or a related field; final‑year master’s students are welcome.
• Strong abstract reasoning, ability to structure complex concepts into reusable components, and comfort working with documentation‑heavy topics.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional EU language is a plus.
