Banking & Finance Lawyer – Polish Market Focus (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Banking and Finance Lawyer with a focus on the Polish market to join its Legal Directorate in Luxembourg. This full‑time, permanent position involves regular office presence and offers the chance to work in a truly international, multi‑cultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate loan agreements, guarantees and other finance documents in English for lending operations across Central Europe.
• Provide legal advice on structured finance transactions, including asset‑backed and synthetic securitizations, project finance and public‑private partnerships.
• Support EIB projects in Poland and, when required, in other CE jurisdictions (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia).
• Collaborate with a team of 12 lawyers, the Head of the Central Europe Division, and external counsel as needed.
• Undertake limited travel for negotiations and signing of legal documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with substantial experience in banking and finance law.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex cross‑border lending transactions.
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and compliance.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Polish is advantageous.
