Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Hardware‑agnostic Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design and maintain a hardware‑agnostic, OS‑agnostic on‑board software framework for an innovative aerospace technology client. The role involves close collaboration with AI and backend teams to enable rapid integration of any hardware into any bus.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop a hardware‑agnostic HAL and middleware stack in C/C++ for ARM Cortex‑A/R/M, RISC‑V and other architectures.
• Create OS‑agnostic abstraction layers targeting Linux (Yocto/Ubuntu) and RTOSes such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, and RTEMS.
• Implement and maintain bus‑protocol drivers (I2C, SPI, UART) with multi‑bus and redundancy support.
• Apply OOP principles in C++ and structured C design, enforcing MISRA C/C++ and CERT secure coding standards.
• Develop Python automation scripts for configuration, build, flashing and validation across multiple target boards.
• Build and sustain hardware‑in‑the‑loop and software‑in‑the‑loop test frameworks.
• Collaborate with software lead, AI engineers and backend team, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in embedded software development for aerospace or similar high‑reliability domains.
• Strong understanding of hardware abstraction, real‑time operating systems and safety‑critical coding standards.

Required skills

• C and C++ programming.
• Python scripting for automation.
• Experience with ARM Cortex‑A/R/M and RISC‑V architectures.
• Linux (Yocto/Ubuntu) and RTOS development (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, RTEMS).
• Implementation of I2C, SPI, UART drivers.
• Knowledge of MISRA C/C++ and CERT secure coding guidelines.
• Use of static analysis tools, Git‑based CI pipelines, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing.
