Research Scientist for Cybersecurity of AI Systems

About the role

The University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) seeks a senior researcher to advance the security of AI systems. You will join the SEDAN research group, shaping interdisciplinary research at the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new cybersecurity paradigms for AI and guide the SEDAN team’s research direction.
• Lead and manage national and international projects, including proposal writing, reporting, and coordination with external partners.
• Foster collaborations between cybersecurity and AI stakeholders in Luxembourg and abroad.
• Contribute to teaching at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels on AI security and network cybersecurity.
• Supervise PhD candidates and support post‑doctoral training through seminars, workshops and conferences.
• Represent SnT and SEDAN at academic and public venues to raise the visibility of cybersecurity research.

Required profile

• PhD in network security, cybersecurity, system security or a related field.
• Minimum five years of post‑doctoral or equivalent experience in computer networks, cybersecurity or AI.
• Recent research on security of large language models (LLM), retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) systems, or agentic AI, including testing and monitoring.
• Strong publication record in top‑tier cybersecurity or AI venues.
• Proven success in obtaining research funding and managing EU, national or industry projects.
• Experience teaching and supervising MSc, PhD and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Demonstrated integrity in handling sensitive or dual‑use research.
