Platform Engineer

About the role

Hydrosat is building a next‑generation Earth Observation constellation and a data platform that delivers high‑resolution thermal infrared imagery. As a Platform Engineer in the Data Engineering team, you will design, implement and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers large‑scale data pipelines, ensuring reliability, scalability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy, automate and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Design and operate CI/CD pipelines for multi‑environment deployments.
• Maintain and optimise Kubernetes clusters for cost‑effectiveness and scalability.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting to ensure high availability and security.
• Lead networking design across environments, including ingress/egress and secure connectivity.
• Own core infrastructure components from concept through production.
• Promote consistent DevSecOps practices across teams.
• Mentor team members and collaborate with software, product and data science stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or related roles.
• Highly self‑motivated, quick learner with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective team player with a proven track record of taking ownership of complex systems.

Required skills

• AWS and cloud‑native architecture expertise.
• Kubernetes and containerised workload management.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
• Logging and monitoring solutions: Grafana, DataDog, CloudWatch, Prometheus.
• Understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure connectivity design.
