Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is looking for a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. The role involves representing the EIB as an agent before the Court of Justice of the European Union and providing legal advice on institutional, transparency, anti‑fraud, complaints and staff‑related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Provide legal opinions and notes on complex institutional and EU law issues.
• Conduct research and studies on legal questions affecting the Bank’s operations.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with internal and external counterparts.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and proactively share insights.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor level, preferably Master’s).
• Master’s degree in EU law and bar qualification are strong assets.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within EU institutions, bodies or an internationally recognised law firm.
• Experience in EU litigation and deep knowledge of EU law are distinct advantages.
