Applied AI Engineer – Consulting Manager

About the role

Join EY’s Applied AI Engineering team to deliver production‑grade AI solutions for a diverse portfolio of clients across financial services, public and private sectors. You will work as a hands‑on engineer within a squad, owning components such as agents and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines while ensuring reliability, security and observability.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders, translate requirements into engineering tasks, and support workshops, demos and solution reviews.
• Design, build and integrate RAG pipelines, AI agents, micro‑services and related APIs.
• Apply monitoring, evaluation and Responsible AI guardrails to all solutions.
• Shape MVP scope, manage backlogs, plan releases and capture reusable patterns for shared accelerators.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar engineering or consulting role.
• Strong consulting behaviours: stakeholder engagement and client‑ready communication.
• Fluent written and spoken English; French or German a plus.

Required skills

• Python and TypeScript, async programming, API design, testing/CI, microservice fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval strategies and grounding.
• Cloud engineering (Azure preferred), Docker, Kubernetes, serverless, secure networking and IAM.
• Data engineering basics: Spark, Databricks, ETL/ELT processes.
• Familiarity with document/graph stores, streaming platforms (Event Hub, Kafka) and cloud architecture governance.
