Python Developer – AI Expert (Remote, Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Python backend developer to join a high‑caliber engineering team working on AI‑enhanced developer tools. This remote, part‑time contract position focuses on building robust APIs and testing cutting‑edge AI models.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs.
• Implement data validation, error handling, and security best practices in backend services.
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance optimisations, and schema changes.
• Test new AI‑powered models in Cursor and provide detailed feedback via incident reports and bug traces.
• Participate in intensive 4‑day testing bursts to evaluate AI impact on coding workflows.
• Collaborate with the research team on Slack, sharing findings and improvement ideas.
• Complete post‑burst surveys delivering insights on model performance and developer experience.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience with strong Python expertise.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of data validation, error handling, and API security.
• Hands‑on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Extensive use of AI coding tools; familiarity with Cursor is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for clear incident and bug reporting.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, confidential, and collaborative remote environment.
