Associate IT Software Engineer (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is looking for an Associate IT Software Engineer to join its Bespoke Lending Applications Unit in Luxembourg. The role is based at the EIB headquarters and requires regular presence in the office. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, business needs and IT architecture to design and deliver bespoke lending applications that support the Bank’s core activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable lending‑related software solutions.
• Coordinate and supervise external development partners to ensure delivery meets the Bank’s standards.
• Contribute to the definition of technical solutions consistent with business requirements and the overall IT architecture.
• Participate in strategy and policy development for the Bank’s IT technology and infrastructure.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert on technical aspects of projects and drive change within the IT application landscape.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of software development principles and best industry standards.
• Experience working in a multi‑cultural, international environment.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both business and IT stakeholders.
• Willingness to mentor and coach external developers.
