Sector Specialist – European Innovation Council Fund (EIC)

About the role

The European Investment Bank is looking for a Sector Specialist to support the European Innovation Council Fund (EICF). Based at the Luxembourg headquarters, you will work on high‑impact investments in deep tech, digital, clean technologies and biotechnology, providing independent policy advice and technical assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑lead the appraisal and due‑diligence process for equity investments by the EIC Fund.
• Coordinate external technical experts appointed by the European Commission (EISMEA) from appointment to delivery of technical reports.
• Assess scientific, technological and market viability of innovative companies, including scalability, competitive positioning and key risks.
• Translate findings into clear, evidence‑based recommendations for investment decisions.
• Interact regularly with internal teams, external consultants, the European Commission, and portfolio companies.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of sector policy in digital technologies, deep tech, clean technologies and/or biotechnologies.
• Experience in technical and market due‑diligence within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to provide independent, objective advice to senior decision‑makers.
• Excellent analytical skills and familiarity with investment appraisal standards.
