Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank is seeking a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. The role involves representing the Bank in litigation before the Court of Justice of the EU and providing expert legal advice on a range of EU‑law matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice in the form of notes and opinions on complex institutional and EU law matters.
• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Conduct legal research and studies on issues related to the EIB’s transparency, anti‑fraud, complaints mechanisms and staff matters.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces on legal topics.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with counterparts inside and outside the Bank.
• Monitor legal developments and build relationships with external advisers.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum bachelor, preferably master level).
• Master’s degree in EU law and bar qualification are strong assets.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in EU institutions, international law firms or similar environments.
• Experience in EU litigation and deep knowledge of EU law are advantageous.

Required skills

• Standard computer tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets).
• Familiarity with legal databases and research platforms.
