Head of Group Financial Risk Department

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a senior leader to head its Group Financial Risk Department at the Luxembourg headquarters. The role is part of the Group Risk & Compliance Directorate and reports directly to the Group Chief Risk Officer. It requires a full‑time, on‑site presence and offers the opportunity to shape risk policy for a major EU financial institution.

Key responsibilities

• Define the vision and strategy for the Group Financial Risk Department.
• Develop and maintain financial risk policies, methodologies and reporting frameworks.
• Oversee market risk, pricing control, treasury risk, liquidity risk, payment‑settlement risk and counter‑party credit risk on derivatives.
• Ensure robust data governance and reporting processes for risk information.
• Conduct regular reviews and enhancements of Group Risk policies and related documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial risk management within a banking or investment environment.
• Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary risk team and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of credit, market, liquidity, funding and operational risk concepts.
• Excellent analytical, communication and decision‑making skills.
